It's been three-and-a-bit years since Jeff Madalena and Louis Terline opened Oak in Williamsburg, a style institution that has been consistently tempting fashion folk from all corners of the city (more specifically BK-resistant Manhattan dwellers) with a beautifully edited collection of fashionable wares. Oak is opening a super swanky new location on Bond street, their first store and showroom in Manhattan at the former Ghost store site this week. We were lucky enough to have co-owner Louis give us a mini-tour earlier this week before the officially opening on Monday.
The space alone is pretty awe-inspiring with a huge jeans-filled installation built in the shape of the industrial Williamsburg skyline, a little piece of BK in the city as Louis puts it. Louis and Jeff have always had a knack for spotting and championing talent close to home and their line-up of new showroom talent is reason enough to get re-psyched about NYC design. There are spot-on collections from the likes of Hood by Air (more about them and their show next week) British menswear line Stansfield (peep the four-pocket shirts) and Hyden Yoo (plaid-lined magnificence), as well as an awesome collection of men's shoes by Rachel Comey and jumbo pink and white bowties from Harmon.
