This summer we saw Growing play next to the Gowanus canal, we sat in a lawn chair, eating hot dogs and drinking beer. Growing played a set of choppy guitar bits that cohered into layered noise—guitars acting as rhythm and lead. "Swell," from their upcoming Lateral is not like that. "Swell" is full of fuzzy guitar washes, beautiful and loud and cohesive. Dudes, this is a winter jam if we've ever heard one.
