2025 Emmys: 11 important things that happened

Somebody get Seth Rogen a bigger trophy cabinet.

September 15, 2025

The 2025 Emmys took place on Sunday night with a ceremony hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. The night was dominated by a small but deserving collection of shows, chiefly Netflix's Adolescence, Seth Rogen's Hollywood satire The Studio, and real-time medical drama The Pitt. There were also wins for the stars of Severance and Hacks, with best supporting actress in a comedy winner Hannah Einbinder (pictured above) using her moment on the stage to advocate for the people of Gaza.

Here are the highlights of the 2025 Emmys.

Statements were made on the red carpet

Javier Bardem, who last week joined fellow actors including Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, and Tilda Swinton in signing the Film Workers for Palestine pledge vowing not to work with Israeli film institutions, wore a keffiyeh on the red carpet and said he was "denouncing the genocide in Gaza,. I am talking about the IAGS, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, who study thoroughly genocide and has declared it is a genocide. That’s why we ask for a commercial and diplomatic blockade and also sanctions on Israel to stop the genocide. Free Palestine.”

Hack actor Megan Stalter, whose red carpet fashion is often extremely playful, arrived in a pair of jeans and let her bag do the speaking.

...and on stage, too

Hacks actor Hannah Einbinder, who won best supporting actress in a comedy, wore a red Artists4Ceasefire pin and ended her acceptance speech by stating: "Go Birds, Fuck ICE and Free Palestine."

Speaking to reporters backstage, Einbinder was quizzed on her speech. "I feel like it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and longstanding … institution that is really separate to the ethno-nationalist state,” she replied.

The Pitt cast turned up in style...

Viewers might be more used to seeing them in scrubs but the cast of The Pitt went all out for the big night on Sunday, arriving in full glam via a party bus.

...and then swept the board

Emmys voters love to laud praise on a new show and The Pitt, which follows the action in a chaotic and blood-spattered emergency room, seemed to be this year's breakout show. It was named Best drama series with lead actor Noah Wyle crowned Lead actor in a drama series. Katherine LaNasa added to the haul with her win in the Supporting actress in a drama series category.

Adolescence was the night's other big drama winner

The Netflix show won practically every award it was nominated for, including 15-year-old Owen Cooper becoming the youngest male actor to win in Emmy history. He was joined by fellow winners Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty while the show was named Best limited or anthology series.

The Studio won so many awards Seth Rogen couldn't hold them all

Rogen's star-studded and well loved satire, The Studio, broke records with a massive 13 wins at this year's Emmys. This included Outstanding Comedy Series and Rogen winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. His only crime? Not thanking Sal Sapperstein even one time.

Britt Lower's acceptance speech featured an easter egg for Severance fans

The words "Let me out" were clearly visible on the back of Lower's speech while she was accepting the award for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series, a nod to notes her character tries to communicate to the outside world in the hit Apple show.

While Severence's Tramell Tillman made history with his

Severance didn't collect many awards on the night but was resposible for one noteworthy victory with Tramell Tillman winning for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. This, astonishingly for 2025, made him the first Black actor in history to accept the prize. "I am full, I am humbled, I am honored," he said as he raised his award and entered the history books.

Finally, spare a thought for the losers

Inevitably, on a night dominated by a small number of shows taking home multiple awards, there were a few painful snubs. Nathan Fielder was given nothing for his excellent work on The Rehearsal while The White Lotus was also left empty-handed. That marks the first time Mike White's HBO show hasn't won an Emmy since it began. Finally, it should be noted that The Bear also didn't win anything. But perhaps that shouldn't come as such a shock.
