Lil Nas X on arrest: “That was f-cking terrifying”

The pop star, who’s been charged with four felonies, was released on bail on Monday.

Lil Nas X has spoken out for the first time after pleading not guilty to four felonies following his arrest on August 21.

In a video posted to his Instagram story, the rapper reassured fans. “Your girl is going to be okay y’all,” he said. “Shit, that was f-cking terrifying…That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”

Nas X, born Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested in the early morning on August 21. He was apprehended by police after they spotted him wandering the Los Angeles streets while undressed and confused. According to Los Angeles police spokesperson Charles Miller, in a statement obtained by the Associated Press, Nas x charged at the officers and was taken to jail and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He was also briefly hospitalized for a suspected overdose.

On August 25, Nas X was formally charged with four felonies, including three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty and was released after posting a $75,000 bail set by Judge Sarah Ellenberg.

Lil Nas X’s 2018 smash hit, “Old Town Road,” spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 and sold over 10 million copies, catapulting him to stardom. Dreamboy, the follow-up to his 2021 Grammy-nominated debut album MONTERO, is expected to be released later this year.
