Here are the 2024 Grammy nominees
The ceremony takes place on February 4 next year.
The Recording Academy has announced the nominees for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, taking place on February 4, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
SZA leads this year's nominations with nine, including nods in the Album of the Year category (for SOS), plus Record and Song of the Year ("Kill Bill" in both categories). Victoria Monét is close behind with seven nominations while Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift picked up six nominations each, the same number as Boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Jon Batiste, and Brandy Clark.
AI has became a major talking point in the run-up to the 2024 ceremony. In June the Recording Academy updated their rules to account for the rise of generative AI as a songwriting and production tool. Work made with AI was deemed eligible for awards, but “a work that contains no human authorship is not eligible in any category” is not.
Drake, who had declined to submit his music to the Academy since 2020, took a step back from that stance this year and submitted Her Loss, the 2022 album he made with 21 Savage, for awards consideration.
Since 2022 the field of nominees for the “big four” categories — Album, Song, and Record of the Year, as well as Best New Artist — was expanded from eight candidates to 10. The number will return to eight in 2024. Album of the Year eligibility, meanwhile, now requires featured artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers to be credited on at least 20 percent of a nominated album to qualify for an award.
There will also be three new categories for 2024: Best Pop Dance Recording, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best African Music Performance. Two existing categories — Producer and Songwriter of the Year, nonclassical — have been moved to the general field, giving all voting members of the Academy a say in who wins.
