Lana Del Rey isn’t on the Priscilla soundtrack
Director Sofia Coppola said “it didn’t work out with the timing.”
Lana Del Rey wasn’t able to appear on the soundtrack for Priscilla.
According to director Sofia Coppola, the “A&W” singer couldn’t record an original song for the biopic, which is based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir about her relationship with Elvis Presley, Elvis and Me.
“I’m learning that people really connect Lana Del Rey and Priscilla and I didn’t realize that, but I got a lot of requests with, ‘How is she gonna be a part of the movie?,’” Coppola said during an E! News interview with stars Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny.
She added, “We were hoping she could do a song for it, but it didn’t work out with the timing.”
Coppola also revealed that Del Rey — a notorious fan of the Presleys who’s referenced Elvis in her music — was invited to the Priscilla premiere. And while she wasn’t able to attend, the director said she’s still “excited for [Del Rey] to see it.”
