MGMT announce new album and share “Mother Nature” video
Loss Of Life will be released next year.
MGMT have announced details of their fifth studio album. Loss Of Life will be released on February 23 and includes the single "Mother Nature." The 3D animated video for the new song, which shows two animal friends named Dog and Turtle fighting against an evil pet collector, can be seen below.
According to the band, the new song “outlines the archetypical MGMT mythology of one hero attempting to get the other hero to come on the journey that they ‘must’ go on. One part sounds like Oasis.”
Christine and The Queens will appear on Loss Of Life, contributing vocals to a song titled "Dancing In Babylon." Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser also worked with producers Patrick Wimberly and Dave Fridmann on the album, with additional production coming from Oneohtrix Point Never and Danger Mouse.
Loss Of Life will be the first MGMT album released on Mom + Pop Music, who the band have signed to after releasing their first four albums via Columbia Records. The band's last album was 2018's Little Dark Age.
