2023 MTV VMAs: Watch Taylor Swift accept the Video of the Year Award
Swift took home the top honor for her “Anti-Hero” visuals.
Taylor Swift made history at the 2023 VMAs, tying for most wins in one night (with 9) and now second-most overall wins (only Beyoncé has more). She also became the first artist to win Video of the Year for a fourth time and became the first artist to receive the award two years in a row, too.
There was some confusion over whether or not Swift had won the top prize, which she took for Midnights song "Anti-Hero" but her speech was eventually shared online after the ceremony had finished broadcasting on TV. She was joined by Chancler Haynes and Rina Yang, both of whom worked on the "Anti-Hero" video alongside Swift.
After Haynes and Yang spoke, Swift took her time to thank the Swifties for helping her sweep the board at the VMAs. "This is unbelievable," she said. "I just to say that the fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me based on the memories that we’ve made recently. I’ve just been on a tour that is the most joyful and exhilarating experience, and we’re not even halfway done with it. It’s really felt like the adventure of a lifetime this past year. I cannot believe that it was a year ago at the VMAs that I announced the Midnights album, and all I have to say tonight is thank you. I’m blown away. Thank you so much to the fans. I love you so much."
In addition to winning Video of the Year, Swift also took the VMAs for Song of the Year (for "Anti-Hero") and Artist of the Year.
