Anitta shares three-track bundle Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story
The mini-tape includes the brash, thunderous single “Funk Rave,” plus new tracks “Used To Be” and “Casi Casi.”
Anyone saying it’s a slow week for new music releases clearly isn’t paying enough attention to their left-field pop girlies. You have Madison Beer (surprisingly good), Addison Rae (good but no one’s surprised), and Reneé Rapp (it is what it it is). And then there’s Anitta, who’s not really left-field at all — she’s actually one of the biggest pop stars in the world right now — but has yet to become a household name in North America.
With its embrace of Brazilian working-class culture, Anitta’s Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story may not be her next crossover smash, but it’s absolutely worth your attention. The three-track bundle features the thunderous, previously released single “Funk Rave,” plus two new songs: “Casi Casi” and and “Used To Be.” “Casi Casi” also gets a salacious visual treatment, with Anitta as a smirking brothel receptionist, and “Used To Be” comes with a lyric video of its own. Watch all three videos and stream the tracks on their own below.
