Beyoncé cuts Lizzo shout-out from “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)”
Following yesterday’s lawsuit, Queen Bey skipped over Lizzo’s name during her Renaissance Tour stop in Boston last night.
Last night, at her Renaissance tour stop in Boston, Beyoncé cut Lizzo from the third-verse rap in her performance of "Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)," as reported by TMZ and confirmed by CNN. In recorded video from the concert, Bey changes the original lyrics ("Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl'") to "Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu," even as Lizzo's name still flashes on the screen behind her. Kelly Rowland is once again out here catching strays.
This omission of Lizzo's name from the remix came after news broke of a lawsuit filed against Lizzo by three former backup dancers alleging sexual harassment, discrimination, and a hostile work environment. Lizzo has yet to issue a public response to the suit, which also names her production company (Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc.) and dance captain Shirlene Quigley as defendants. The FADER has reached out to representatives of both Lizzo and Beyoncé for comment.
