Doja Cat won’t tell fans she loves them: “i don’t even know yall”
In a series of now-deleted Threads posts, the pop star criticized supporters who call themselves “Kittenz.”
Whether it's the Beyhive, Navy, Army, or Little Monsters, most artists are pretty happy to acknowledge their fan bases and their adoptive names. Doja Cat is different though and spent time this weekend calling out her fans (or Kittens, if you prefer) for their choice of name.
"My fans don’t get to name themselves shit," the singer and rapper posted on Threads this weekend, shortly before deleting her posts. "If you call yourself a ‘Kitten’ or fucking ‘Kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
When one fan said that they wanted to hear Doja Cat show some love for the fans that have followed her for years( "I wanna hear you say (I do love you guys) as usual you say to your fans") she refused. Doja responded: "I don't though cuz i don't even know yall."
A number of Doja Cat fan accounts on Twitter, including Doja Cat News, The Kittens Room, and Doja HQs, have seemingly been deactivated in the hours since she posted the offending messages.
In the real world, Doja Cat is due to bring The Scarlet Tour to U.S. arenas this fall. Her latest single, "Attention," was released in June.
