slowthai pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape today (June 15) during an appearance in an Oxford court, the BBC reports. The rapper born Tyron Kaymone Frampton was charged this May with oral and vaginal rape of a woman in a 2021 incident.
He was joined during his court appearance by Alex Blake Walker, another defendant who is accused of raping the same woman and sexually assaulting a different person. He has pleaded not guilty to one charge of rape and two counts of sexual assault. The individuals were released on bail; their trial is set to begin in July 2024.
In a since-deleted Instagram statement released soon after the charges were announced in May, slowthai proclaimed his innocence: "i am confident my name will be cleared. until then i will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly."
