U.K. rapper Nines delivers the sequel to his Crop Circle short film
Crop Circle 2 is the visual accompaniment to the Londoner’s new album of the same name.
Last week Nines dropped his fourth album Crop Circle 2 and it's another certified banger from one of the finest storytellers on the U.K. scene. Across tracks like "Tony Soprano 2," "Calendar," and "Highly Blessed," Nines looks back over a life spent between drug dealing and rapping, finding himself aging out of the former and using the latter to recall, among other anecdotes, stories from a 2021 prison stint.
The album is Nines' first since 2020 project Crabs In A Bucket but is the follow-up to the first Crop Circle, released in 2018. With that album Nines directed a short film to accompany the music and he has returned to the director's chair once. Crop Circle 2 is a 45-minute-long narrative feature that begins with a robbery and includes moments of romance, drama, and even some comedy courtesy of a negotiation with an elderly lady.
The film features cameos from some of the featured artists on the album, including Kojey Radical, Backroad Gee, Ghetts, and more. Check it out while you wait for the new season of Top Boy to hit Netlfix.
