Rema shares three new songs
“Charm,” “Dunno Me (Freestyle),” and “HOV” arrive along with the deluxe edition of the Nigerian star’s 2022 album Rave & Roses.
Since covering The FADER in 2019, Rema has developed his talents with remarkable style and brought his "Afrorave" sound from Nigeria to the global pop charts. He secured a massive hit this year with "Calm Down" and its Selena Gomez-featuring remix, and he'll head out on a 17-date tour of North America this summer. Today, he shares an expanded version of his 2022 album Rave & Roses. It contains the Gomez remix, the previously released "Reason You" and "Holiday," and three brand new songs.
The new tracks are spread out across the existing album tracklist. "Charm" comes first with a sweet groove at a slow wine tempo, followed by the Don Toliver-reminiscent melodic rap stylings of “Dunno Me (Freestyle)." "HOV" is the most intriguing of the bunch — crisp electronic drums and the occasional house-y stab merge with soft piano and orchestral strings in a beat that sounds much closer to Sampha than the artist known as Hova. Listen to them all below.
