A$AP Rocky shares new song “Same Problems?”
The new track is inspired by the premature deaths of young artists.
A$AP Rocky appears to be gearing up to release the follow-up to his 2018 album TESTING. At a performance on the Amazon Music Live concert series last month, Rocky announced the album’s title — Don’t Be Dumb — and played three unreleased songs. One of them was titled Same Problems?, and prior to his performance, Rocky explained that it was dedicated to hip-hop artists who have lost their lives prematurely.
A high-quality version of the song’s live performance has been streaming on YouTube for a minute, but today, “Same Problems?” hit streaming services. If you haven’t heard it yet, the interlude-esque track rides a funereal bass riff to a gentle bob as Rocky ruminates on the causes and effects of so much premature death within the culture. Listen below.
Since releasing TESTING, Rocky has shared the songs “Babushka Boi,” “D.M.B.,“ and “Shittin Me.” He’s also appeared on tracks with Danger Mouse & Black Thought, slowthai, Nigo, BROCKHAMPTON, and more. Last year, he welcomed a son with Rihanna and pled not guilty to second-degree felony assault charges.
