Black Thought announces collaborative album with El Michels Affair
The Roots’ MC will share Glorious Game in April. Listen to “Grateful” now.
Last year Black Thought of The Roots teamed up with producer Danger Mouse on the critically-acclaimed Cheat Codes. Clearly keen to continue this run of excellence, the Roots MC has today announced details of another collaborative album. Glorious Game, out April 14 on Big Crown Records, was made alongside El Michels Affair. Lead single "Grateful" is streaming below.
Glorious Game began production during the pandemic when Black Thought reached out to El Michels Affair founder Leon Michels. The artists had performed live together in the past but never worked on a full-length project.
El Michels Affair released their debut album Sounding Out the City in 2005. The group went on to tour with Wu-Tang Clan which, in turn, led to their second album, Enter the 37th Chamber. Michels also works as a writer and producer, working on albums by Adele, Don Toliver, Beyonce & Jay-Z’s side project The Carters and Dan Auerbach's band The Arcs.
