Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham pays tribute to Christine McVie
Stevie Nicks also paid tribute to her bandmate, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79.
Lindsey Buckingham has released a statement honoring his Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who died on November 30, age 79. “Christine McVie’s sudden passing is profoundly heartbreaking,” Buckingham wrote in a post shared on Instagram. “Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister.” Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac in 2018.
In a statement released on Wednesday, McVie's family said that she had passed away after “a short illness.” Fleetwood Mac released an official statement soon after in which the band said: "There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure."
Bandmates Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood went on to share messages of their own, with Nicks writing "See you on the other side, my love. Don’t forget me—Always, Stevie." Drummer Fleewtood, meanwhile, added: "Part of my heart has flown away today. I will miss everything about you."
