Ibibio Sound Machine share “All That You Want”
Electricity, the new album produced by Hot chip, is out on March 25.
London Afro future-pop group Ibibio Sound System have a new album called Electricity on the way, and their fourth full-length is produced by none other than Hot Chip. If you're unfamiliar, Hot Chip are an English group who have pretty much mastered making beefy dancefloor tunes with modular synths and tons of heart. To hear that sensibility on display, listen to "All That You Want," a groovy vision of electropop, soul, and Afrobeat traditions.
"Prior to the sessions," Hot Chip wrote in a statement, "we had run into Ibibio Sound Machine at festivals and loved watching them perform. There are very talented musicians throughout the band, and Eno is a massively charismatic, skilled singer. The sessions were hugely rewarding as Ibibio brought in friends and collaborators to add a wide array of different instruments—some of which were unfamiliar to us. The songs on this record are uniformly great, and we were really happy to be a part of making it."
Electricity is out March 25 via Merge.
