Shamir covers Sharon Van Etten’s “Dsharpg”
The cover will appear on Van Etten’s upcoming double album epic Ten.
Shamir recorded his own take of Sharon Van Etten’s “Dsharpg," a more slowed-down and subdued version of the original that appeared on Van Etten's 2010 album Epic. The cover is set to appear on the new double album project epic Ten that pairs the original album alongside covers of its songs by artists like Fiona Apple, Lucinda Williams, Big Red Machine, and more.
Van Etten shared her thoughts on Shamir's own music in a statement, expressing she was drawn to its "immediate authenticity and originality" and genre-bending qualities. "I loved every minute of the wild ride. Not to mention that his vocal range is from another universe and his arrangements are dark and stormy," she said. "Self admittedly, I have a harder time keeping up with music today, but Shamir’s music stands out as truly original and a force to be reckoned with in his reimagining of a time where I grew up fondly, angsty and dreaming.”
epic Ten drops on April 16. Listen to the cover above.
