Midnight Sister are warped and wistful in the “Satellite” music video
The duo’s new album Painting The Roses is out January 15.
Midnight Sister is the Los Angeles-based duo of Juliana Giraffe and Ari Balouzian creating stripped-down Nuggets-era psych-pop. They've also got a striking sense for visuals, and it's on full display in their new video for "Satellite," premiering today on The FADER.
Giraffe's cabaret-painted visage is the focus of the video, but it's warped into oblivion thanks to some very simple-yet-effect practical special effects. "'Satellite' explores delusion and the way memory is influenced by perception," the band said in a statement. "The video, shot through a funhouse mirror, finds clarity by embracing distortion."
Painting The Roses, the new Midnight Sister album, drops January 15 via Jagjaguwar. Pre-order and pre-save the album here.
