"I'm on my bullshit again" sings queer indie pop star phem on her latest song "self control." It's an immediately arresting introduction to a song tackling the destructive cycles we are all prone to when life gets the better of us.

Filmed on the set of a fictional kids TV show, the "self control" video shows phem making bad decision after bad decision as her spiky and super-catchy song explodes like the fireworks she sets off as the clip culminates. The video ends with a call to action for those seeking mental health help from The Trevor Project.

Speaking about the video, phem told The FADER: “[My creative director] spun boi built this entire set that we created and morphed for multiple videos as we continue to reveal the project. This is the first of many [videos] that will be rolling out in the next month or so."

"This video was particularly important for illustrating the daily battle with my own self worth / self conscious / self judgement loop. Sex, drugs, food, a very relatable topic that I know most people struggle with as well. I believe when you master self control, you master your reality. It is really as simple as that.“

phem’s forthcoming EP, How U Stop Hating Urself Part 1. is scheduled for release on October 30.
