Twenty-year-old Argentinian star Nicki Nicole has been on a roll of late: “Colocao,” her first single of 2020, has already amassed in excess of 44 million streams on Spotify alone, making good on the hype that surrounded her 2019 debut album Recuerdos. Today, the dexterous, shape-shifting MC is releasing “Mala Vida,” a smoky, hard-edged rap song that shows off Nicole’s impressive, lilting spoken cadence as well as her honeyed singing voice. Arriving complete with a dramatic, mob-movie inspired video directed by Jess "La Polaca” Praznik, it’s another impressive display from Nicole.

Of the song and its accompanying video, Nicole tells The FADER:

“”Mala Vida” arose after seeing The Godfather trilogy. I had never seen it and in three nights, together with my producers, we watched it all. A lot of the inspiration was born from there; to create something with that mafia universe in mind but with my own ideas. "Mala Vida" emerged with an incredible video that captured it in a perfect way. I always wanted to make a music video like it was a movie trailer too. The Godfather and Italian culture was the trigger and my inspiration."
