Micachu & The Shapes announce name change and new album

Before Mica Levi was writing era-defining film scores like their Oscar-nominated work on Pablo Larraín's 2016 film Jackie, they were skewing underground pop with Marc Pell and Raisa Khan as Micachu & The Shapes. Today, the group has announced a name change — they're now going by Good Sad Happy Bad, the title of the final Micachu & The Shapes album — added CJ Calderwood to the band's lineup, and revealed a new album, Shades, out October 16.
The Tony Harewood-directed music video for the album's title track is out today, and you can watch it above. The clip depicts the band on a partially green-screened outdoor jaunt, cycling through different sunglasses and playing instruments in a washed-out environment. The visuals, combined with the song's concussed K Records vibe, might be a good soundtrack for finally emerging into the real world after months (years?) of quarantine.
Good Sad Happy Bad offered a statement on their new music and its attendant adjectives in a press release. "Like the band name, the songs are either good, sad, happy or bad and sometimes either slow, fast, heavy or light, and sometimes cold, hot, warm or freezing, and sometimes tasty, nasty, bland or spicy.” Dig into the new music above.
