Mk.gee takes Vegyn’s “Debold” to the dreamworld dancefloor for a new remix

Back in 2019, London producer and Frank Ocean collaborator Vegyn shared the album Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds, a constellation of glitchy, sample-flecked electronic textures. Tomorrow, Vegyn drops the six-track remix EP ODCD ALT VERSIONS, and today The FADER's got the premiere of the "Debold” remix from L.A. electronic artist Mk.gee.

The new version takes the Aphex Twin influence of the original but rides it into a different frontier; the foundation now is a sort of screwed-up two-step similar to Oli XL in how it occupies a liminal space on the pirate radio transistor. "'Debold' was kind of hard to remix," Mk.gee said in an email to The FADER, "considering it's my favorite and I knew the song inside-out before working on it."
