Hear Jordana’s quietly lush new single “Forgetter”

Nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter Jordana Nye recently re-released her debut as Jordana, Classical Notions of Happiness. It’s a record that, unlike many other lo-fi-leaning albums today, really can be classified as bedroom pop — the whole thing was recorded in her Wichita bedroom. But, resonant and intricate though it was (our own Sal Maicki said the record “sticks to your ribs”) Classical Notions came together over the span of two years, demonstrating her real-time growth as a songwriter and producer and showcasing a diffuse brilliance, rather than a singular statement.

Her forthcoming EP Something To Say, due out this Friday July 31 via Grand Jury Music, promises to be more holistic, picking up where the she left off on Classical Notations of Happiness’s two recently recorded bonus tracks, both of which were produced by New York-based producer MELVV. “Forgetter,” premiering at the foot of the page, is the latest single from the project, a quietly lush indie-pop song carried by a hypnotic bassline and Nye’s unconventional vocal flights. "’Forgetter’ is a song about self reflection,” Nye said in a press release about the single. “It’s about the times I’ve let people down in relationships and the unhealthy ways I’ve coped with my own shortcomings.”
