Marcus King reminisces on a mystery girl in “One Day She’s Here” video
The South Carolina artist loses her as quickly as they met.
Singer and songwriter Marcus King foregrounds the pain of thinking about the one that got away in his new video for "One Day She's Here." The Joshua Shoemaker-directed clip takes place in Nashville, following King backwards in time from a show with his dream girl in the audience all the way to the first time they met. The disorienting play on time plays off the concept that maybe he never had her to begin with. And before he knows it, she disappears into the night in the Cadillac Coupé DeVille.
In an email, King explained the approach to the video: "I wanted to try for a David Lynch approach with this. Josh Shoemaker was just the man for the job. We had so many dear friends come and be a part of it as well."
"One Day She's Here" comes off of his El Dorado album. King also plans on touring with The Black Keys and Chris Stapleton once quarantine ends.
