ONUR basks in the hate in his “Wired” video

“Yeah it’s such a scandal / All that satisfaction...”

British singer and producer ONUR has come a long way since making his debut with his single "Beamin'" in 2018. He released his first EP, A Millennial Rhapsody, in March 2019 and sold out his fair share of shows along the way. But part of that journey involved losing some friends to the unfortunate condition of "hating," which inspired his single "Wired."

The production features sinister synths that add to the feeling of an entrance song to the anti-hero you love to hate, while his lyrics play off the motivation he gets from experiencing all that negative energy from his fake friends. For the accompanying Oliver Marshall-directed video, he's joined by a few close associates as he walks about his town like he owns it with his newfound confidence.

In an email to The FADER, ONUR explained the spontaneity behind the shoot: "The video was actually shot after a party Oli [Marhsall] and I went to. We were both hungover and it was storming down that day. On top of that, the party we went to was full of the aforementioned people I talk about in the song, and that night, I really made up my mind about it. So it really helped and added in making the music video."
