6ix9ine requests early release due to coronavirus
6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro made an appeal to the judge overseeing 6ix9ine’s case over the weekend.
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro has requested that the incarcerated rapper be let out of prison early due to the threat that coronavirus poses to the country’s prison population. As TMZ reports, Lazzaro wrote to the judge overseeing 6ix9ine’s case this past weekend, writing that the rapper’s asthma could put him at risk of death from the disease. Lazaro’s letter cites the fact that 6ix9ine was recently hospitalized due to severe bronchitis and sinusitis as a reason that he should be released early, as well as the fact that he has recently been suffering shortness of breath — a symptom of coronavirus — but has not been allowed to see a doctor.
6ix9ine is a few months away from completing his prison sentence; although he was sentenced in December 2019 to 24 months, it was announced early this month that his release date had been moved forward to early August.
