Just a day after the release of his album Changes, Justin Bieber sat down with Zane Lowe for an in-depth interview that saw him discuss everything from living with Lyme disease, his marriage to wife Hailey Baldwin, and his fears about returning to music.

"I was dealing with a lot of fear... just even the process. What am I going to talk about again? Is it going to be received," he said during the interview, pointing to sharing the stage with Ariana Grande at Coachella in 2019 as the confidence boost he needed after not performing for two years. "I seen the reaction of how people reacted when I went on the stage. Just kind of reminded me, 'Oh, this is what I do. This is what I'm good at.'"

Bieber also talked about living with Lyme disease, which played a role in the cancellation of the tail end of his 2017 Purpose tour. "I was really tired emotionally, physically, and I was sick and I didn't realize I was sick. So I had Epstein-Barr, which is like, it's called Mono. And then I have Lyme disease," he explained. "So it was that, it was just the exhaustion of just being on tour, and then it was just everything compounded."

He went on to talk about feeling protective over singer Billie Eilish since he also started his music career in his early teens. "It was hard for me being that young, and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turn their back on you in a second," he said. "I don't want her to go through anything I went through. I don't wish that upon anybody. If she ever needs me, I'm just a call away."
