Watch Big Baby Scumbag get away from it all in “Toy Story”

“I got spurs in my ankles.”

Today Big Baby Scumbag premieres the video for "Toy Story," the first track off his untitled upcoming album, due out in January. The song, produced by fanboy, opens with acoustic guitar chords that will make you think you're listening to Hootie and The Blowfish, until Big Baby goes into the nectary hook. Watching the video is an exercise in nostalgia, as we see the Tampa rapper always at least half-smiling in empty cornfields and on a kayak. We've seen a number of country-rap stars in the past couple years, most notably Lil Nas X's ascent to stardom, but there's something inviting about Big Baby's approach that feels like he's tucking the listener in and telling them a bedtime story.

"'Toy Story’ is like if Woody and Bo Peep made a hip-hop record," Big Baby Scumbag told The FADER over email. "I wanted to try something new and give my take on a country record, something for the hard working blue collar community haha. We shot the video out in Masaryktown, FL to really bring the backcountry vibes to life.” Watch the video above and be sure to keep your eye out for the rapper's early 2020 release.
