T-Pain cancels tour due to low ticket sales via delightful Instagram video
T-Pain gets real in his latest IGTV.
T-Pain has cancelled his 1UP DLC Tour citing low ticket sales and mishandled planning. The rapper announced the news in a frankly delightful Instagram TV video in which he opened up about the struggles of tour planning. “Got some news about the 1UP DLC Tour,” the rapper began. “Let me just start by saying that my team set up the tour in September, and if you’ve ever set up a whole month-long tour before, you know that’s not enough time to set up a full tour.”
“I wasn’t as hands-on with the planning and things as I should have [been], because I’ve been busy as hell,” he continued. “I thought since the first 1UP Tour went well and sold out in every city, this should have been good. Having said that, I’m gonna take it upon myself to cancel the 1UP DLC Tour. It would have been a bad look for me, and it wouldn’t have been entertaining for y’all.”
T-Pain then went into detail around the tour’s cancellation itself, speaking candidly about the machinations behind promoting a tour. “I was advised to lie about this, and say I needed some time, alone time or me time … ‘Just don’t make it look like we fucked up!’” he continued. “We fucked up. I’m gonna keep it real with y’all. Most artists lie – whenever concerts or tours get cancelled, it’s for low ticket sales, not whatever reason they say. I think that’s wrong, that’s fucked up.”
Despite having to deliver news of the cancellation, T-Pain seems in high spirits throughout the video, going on to discuss whether or not he’ll release his 1UP DLC album and thanking the fans who bought tickets for being so supportive of him. It's, honestly, incredibly joyful. Watch T-Pain's Instagram TV video below.
