In our Current Mood series, we ask some of our favourite artists to curate a playlist according to a specific theme or mood of their choice. For Current Mood #020, Sasami curates a playlist of the women, people of color, and queer musicians who make her feel worthy. Listen to past Current Mood playlists here.

Los Angeles musician Sasami Ashworth’s self-titled debut album SASAMI was a brilliantly conceived record that arrived right when it was needed. The quiet, reverb-soaked and distorted album embraces the quiet chaos of our current moment, reckoning with loneliness and helplessness that, in a contradictory kind of way, feels pretty comforting. Comfort factors heavily into Worthy, SASAMI’s CURRENT MOOD. Named for the Palehound song of the same name, Worthy is a selection of songs by people of color, women, and queer people who help SASAMI get through life, including Blood Orange, Mitski, Palehound, Vagabon and more.

"This playlist got its name from the Palehound song, of the same title,” SASAMI tells The FADER by email. “Women, people of color, and queer people are fighting everyday to just stay alive and feel worthy. The voices on this mix help me with both." Listen to Worthy above.
