Azealia Banks targets Lizzo with Instagram comment tirade
Banks accused the “Truth Hurts” singer of “making a fool of her black self for a white American public.”
Rapper and perpetual shit-starter Azealia Banks trained her sights on Lizzo in a series of now-deleted Instagram comments, as reported by Complex.
In the apparently unprovoked fusillade, Banks accuses Lizzo of pandering to the machinations of the music industry and "a white American public." Banks writes: "the fact that the public and the media has been keeping this fat girl joke going for so long is honestly peak boredom." While conceding that Lizzo "is legit talented," Banks maintains that Lizzo's number one hit "Truth Hurts" is "not good," and that stage persona makes her a "millenial mammy."

Cardi B and Lil Nas X were are also targets of Banks's insults. "Like illiterate Cardi then fat Lizzo. They are really choosing the worst of the black womens crop to advertise America with," Banks wrote. "I guess they saw us moving too fast with it because if you realize, after Beyoncé became political in ways they didn't like the elite stopped giving her that top top spot and started cycling out these lessers like Cardi and Lizzo (even Lil Nas X trash ass buckbreak mountain anthem) giving them Beyoncé level accolades while both being no where near the level of black female excellence she is." She also claimed Adele "can't sing," which is certainly a take.
Banks has become more known for her feuds in recent years than her music. She has sparred with Vince Staples, Grimes and Elon Musk, Lana Del Rey, Nick Cannon, and more.
Azealia Banks is rumored to be releasing her new album Yung Rapunzel II on September 11 following a performance in China. We can assume the project will not feature Lizzo, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, or Adele.
