Motown Records has announced the signature of Vince Staples. The Long Beach rapper was previously signed to Def Jam, with whom he released albums Summertime '06, Big Fish Theory, and FM!. Both Def Jam and Motown are part of the larger Universal Music Group.

Staples was present at the Capitol Music Group's annual meeting onThursday, where news of his Motown deal was announced. Billboard reports that Staples said he'll drop new music in “a week, two weeks." The FADER has reached out to Staples reps for comment.
