AUGUST 08 pens his own novel on Happy Endings with an Asterisk
The Los Angeles singer and producer isn’t sugarcoating.
Disney has tricked most of us into thinking that our lives will end with some kind of happy ending where the good guys gets what they want and deserve. But AUGUST 08 sees through the simulation. On his newest EP, Happy Endings with an Asterisk, the Red Bull Records/88rising artist breaks down how one journey might seem to come together perfectly after the ups and downs, but there's usually some qualification that comes along with it. "When I came up with that title it's like so many good things happen," he explains via email, "but at the end of the day there’s always going to be something bad that happens because that's natural. As you grow, there’s always something that slows down your journey that teaches you how to move forward — that's why I came up with the title and that's the vibe."
After writing for artists like DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, and Lil Wayne, AUGUST 08 has gone on to make a successful solo career of his own. You can catch him at the 88rising festival Head In The Clouds on August 17 at The LA State Historic Park.
