Baby Smoove lives the L.A. high life in his “BABY” video
The Detroit rapper heads to the coast for his new Vuhlandes-directed video.
If you watched Baby Smoove's new video for "BABY" with the sound off, you might expect an uptempo summer anthem. It has all the ingredients for it: shots of palm trees reflecting the sunlight, waves crashing on the beach, and mansions in Beverly Hills. But in between all the bright imagery, the Detroit rapper brings a subdued gloom to the song, rapping over a reversed piano melody — courtesy of Wiardon — about spending $10,000 on lean and $4,000 on Bape. He mumbles each flex, barely getting the words before laughing at his own audacity. In the video, he manages to find Detroit Street in L.A.and sticks his head out of the window while he raps. "[It's] me and my friends riding around Hollywood hopping out at random spots capturing my high life," Baby Smoove told The FADER. Watch the new video for "Baby" above.
