Watch Madlib play an unreleased Mac Miller song
A track from the unreleased Maclib EP has surfaced.
Last Saturday, Madlib took the stage for a DJ set at MoMA PS1 in Queens, New York. His show included a previously unheard song with Mac Miller from the duo's as-yet-unreleased Maclib EP. Watch a fan's video above via Genius.
The song is the longest sample we've yet heard from Madlib's collaboration with Miller, who passed away from a drug overdose on September 7, 2018. Thelonious Martin revealed the project's existence in February after Madlib played a Maclib song at the Pitchfork Music Festival. In a statement shared in March, Madlib said that "there are no official plans" to release the EP.
Miller and Madlib began working together in 2014 after Miller recorded a verse for the Freddie Gibbs/Madlib album Piñata. Miller has appeared posthumously on the songs "That's Life" by 88-Keys featuring Sia and "Time" by Free Nationals featuring Kali Uchis. In June, Gibbs and Madlib released their follow-up full-length Bandana.
