Streetwear brands that showed out for the Toronto Raptors NBA Championship win
In the wake of the team’s historic win, here’s how you can hop on the bandwagon.
This past Thursday, the Toronto Raptors achieved a feat that casual and diehard sports fans alike bet against, beating the Golden State Warriors to take home the franchise's first NBA Championship. With an unofficial victory song and two new Drake releases, to say the city is in celebration mode is an understatement. Nike released the official Championship shirts to early morning line-ups at sports apparel stores around the city, but streetwear brands have also dropped some of the best and most creative unofficial merch of the series.
See some of the best ones below.
Legends League
Toronto mainstay Legends League dropped their own range of tees that merge team and city pride with nods to Toronto slang and their to-the-point minimalism all wrapped up into one.
Larva on the Go
Larva on the Go perfectly captured the best moments, nicknames and catchphrases of the season and flipped them into illustrations that are as fun as they are on point.
Peace Collective
Throughout the series, the brand has been releasing a collection of tees, crops, tanks, hoodies and even a jacket, all emblazoned with catchphrases the city will echo until the start of the next season. Considering how prevalent their "Toronto vs. Everybody" shirts were during the finals and semi-finals, it only made sense for the brand to show up for the big win.
Sports fandom and campy aesthetics collide in these drops from Effn Clothing. With designs that look like golden age mixtape covers, it fits right into streetwear's 90s revival.
