Childish Gambino and Rihanna’s Guava Island movie set for Amazon Prime
The “tropical thriller” will be available from Sunday, April 13.
Guava Island, the movie Donald Glover and Rihanna shot last year, is set to land on Amazon Prime this weekend. The movie will be available to subscribers shortly after Childish Gambino's headline set at Coachella finished, according to Vanity Fair. The precise time given for its arrival is April 13 at 12:01 a.m. PST.
Last week, ads for Guava Island began popping up on Spotify playlists. The cryptic adverts only showed an artwork for Guava Island along with the date April 13 — which is the day after Gambino's Coachella headlining set.
Now more details about the film have been made available. A teaser clip was revealed overnight, describing it as a "Tropical thriller" about "a local musician determined to throw a festival for everyone to enjoy."
The movie was written by Glover's brother Stephen and directed by Hiro Murai. Murai has directed many episodes of Atlanta as well as Childish Gambino's "This Is America" video. Black Panther’s Letitia Wright stars alongside Glover and Rihanna.
