Yung Baby Tate’s “Pretty Girls” remix is an essential self-love banger
The Atlanta rapper and producer also talks about her forthcoming project, GIRLS.
Atlanta rapper and producer Yung Baby Tate has always been successful at joining her smooth, airy flows with production and visuals that feel like they could have thrived in the late '90s teen pop era. In the summer of 2018, Tate released the video for her single "Pretty Girl," a song that goes over the immediate benefits of being an attractive woman on the scene — mainly, having other people do things for you. In the video, she was accompanied by fellow pretty girls who, without a dude in sight, enjoy a day of car rides and hanging out at the pool, which seems like heaven now that we're in the brutal thick of winter.
Today, The FADER is premiering Yung Baby Tate's remix to the self-affirming track. This time around, she's joined by fellow Atlanta rappers Mulatto and Killumantii. "When I originally made the beat for 'Pretty Girl,' I was inspired by some of the Atlanta classics I grew up with like 'Laffy Taffy' and 'Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It,'" Tate said in an email. "I wanted this record to feel that way too, but to also have a powerful message for the girls!" The song will be featured on YBT's forthcoming project GIRLS, which is expected in February. "GIRLS is a conversation about women and how dope we are. Expect to be reminded that you are 'That Girl' every morning. Expect bops. Expect to dance. Expect to love yourself and the women around you a little bit more." Listen to the "Pretty Girl" remix below.
