Stormzy announced as first headliner for 2019 Glastonbury festival
The #MERKY rapper was announced as the first headliner on Thursday.
Glastonbury festival has confirmed Stormzy as the first headliner for its 2019 festival. The news came via a number of fliers plastered on the windows of Oxfam's shops in Glastonbury's town center. Stormzy will headline the Pyramid Stage on June 28; he will become the first grime artist with a headlining performance.
The G.S.A.P. rapper has performed at Glastonbury twice in the past, at the Sonic Tent in 2016 and the Other Stage in 2017, BBC notes. Stormzy expressed his excitement on Instagram, writing, "THE HEADLINE ACT - GLASTONBURY 2019, well lets be fucking having ya then."
Glastonbury 2019 is set to take place from June 26 through June 30 at Worthy Farm. Tickets for the event went on sale in October, and are now sold out.
