Is Chance The Rapper running for mayor of Chicago?
The Windy City native announced a press conference scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. CST.
Chance The Rapper announced a press conference "regarding the Chicago Mayoral election" on Monday. The conference is set for 10 a.m. CST at Chicago City Hall, and comes weeks after Chicago's current Mayor Rahm Emanuel unexpectedly announced that he would not be seeking reelection. On Sunday, Chance also posted a cryptic tweet that might be hinting at a potential run for mayor.
"I'm thinkin' maybe I should," Chance wrote — the line is part of a verse off of his 2015 song "Somewhere In Paradise," where the Windy City native also raps about running for mayor of Chicago.
Over the course of his career, Chance and his organization SocialWorks have been involved heavily in his home city, raising money for Chicago public schools numerous times. Most recently, Chance pledged $1 million to mental health services in Chicago.
