Juug Brothers rule, and here’s the proof
The Dallas duo make woozy juug-rap that’s undeniable.
The FADER's weekly column What Rules highlights our office's new obsessions.
Who are they?
Name: Juug Brothers
Style: Juug rap — woozy trap-inspired tunes about hustlin' and getting it.
Location: Dallas, Texas.
Why should I listen?
Comprised of Hitman AB and Run It Up Wreck, the duo hail from Dallas and simply put, Juug Brothers make the ultimate car music — whether you're slow-riding or zooming through traffic. My first listen exposed me to the group's hard-knocking but smooth-as-leather sound — I've been hooked since. I can't remember the last time I listened to hustler music that was so soulful.
Since the first time my homie Stevie played and then (deservedly) replayed "Real Juugers Only" by the Juug Brothers a thousand times for me in 2016, I've been (im)patiently waiting for new music from the Texas duo. Much to my dismay, however, the group have only dropped one mixtape, 2017's Make America Juug Again, since releasing their debut project Juug Brothers in 2016.
Juuging — a.k.a hustling, or just plain ol’ getting it by any means — is the common theme throughout the group's universe, as they lay down melodic cadences about making plays and finessing in the coolest, nonchalant tones ever. Throw in majestic beats from the duo's go-to producer TwooHidinBeatz aka JuugRichWoo (with whom they've created an undeniable chemistry) and the result is juug rap — a sound that will literally make you want to do nothing but go out and get it.
