Listen to Wild Nothing’s triumphant “Partners in Motion”
New album, Indigo, out 8/31 on Captured Tracks.
Agh why is this production so rich? Jack Tatum describes “Partners in Motion,” the second single from his band Wild Nothing’s new album Indigo, as “a song I’ve been inching towards ever since releasing Empty Estate five years ago.”
Around that time, he told me, “I’m observant but I don’t think of myself as a storyteller. I can’t write songs in the Bob Dylan sense. So it’s like, what do you write about? Well, you can write about love.” And so you can clearly mark his development in the lyrics, too: “It’s a song of domestic scenes and expectations inspired by helping friends put together a dollhouse for their daughter,” he says now, “the feeling of peering into the home life of others or even my own.”
Cue triumphant sax.
