Sango and Smino already won the summer
The “Khlorine” video is a perfect digital-age travelogue.
"Khlorine" from Sango's new album In the Comfort Of is an intensely blissful composition from the Seattle producer. Soothing pads and lively, skittering drums contribute the soundtrack for being your coolest possible self in a moment where everything has fallen perfectly into place. Smino, who takes the song to a cosmic level with his raps and crooning, appears in the music video for "Khlorine," directed by Glassface and premiering today on The FADER.
The St. Louis rapper joins Sango in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian city that birthed baile funk, one of Sango's key influences. Their journey through the city streets and some genuinely stunning natural scenes is blended together with digital wipes of datamosh, making it look like an exceptional travelogue stored on a hard drive that's been dipped in battery acid.
Sango gave The FADER a brief statement on "Khlorine" over email:
Familia,
Não esquenta com amanhã não.
Viva o presente, viva o momento, viva o aqui e o agora.
Que é só isso que interessa.
A única coisa que voce tem é o presente, o passado já foi.
O futuro virá, mas ninguém sabe como ele virá.
Portanto faca a sua parte. A mudança pode acontecer e isso só depende de você.
Deus abençoe.
Dear Family,
Don’t worry about tomorrow.
Live in the present. Live in the moment. Live here and now.
That’s all that matters.
The only thing that you have, is in the present. The past has already gone.
The future will come, but no one knows how or the way it will come.
So, just do your part. Change can happen. It just depends on you.
God bless.
