Take a trip to Moor Mother’s Philadelphia in this new mini-doc
The musician, poet, and community activist explains how she uses sound as a form of resistance in a new mini-doc from Moog.
Camae Ayewa, also known as Philadelphia artist and activist Moor Mother, has been a leading voice in experimental music for the past few years, most recently addressing systemic racism in her hometown with fellow Philly producer Mental Jewelry on the 2017 Crime Waves EP.
In Moog's new Sonic Origins mini-doc, which premieres on The FADER today, Moor Mother takes us on a trip to her Philadelphia. The clip features scenes of her creating in the studio and finds her explaining how Alice Coltrane, Billie Holiday, and others have inspired her to use sound as a tool of resistance. "Come visit my home studio and watch me experiment with the Moog Mother 32," Moor Mother told The FADER over email. "We will ride through Philly together and discuss my creative process and the city I live in.” Watch the mini-doc above.
