Black Panther had the second biggest second weekend of all time
The film continues to make history.
Ryan Coogler's Black Panther had a historic opening weekend. It had the fifth largest opening of all time, it had the largest February release, and it's accompanying soundtrack, Black Panther: The Album, debuted at number one on the charts. There is no slowing the momentum of the film, as it continues to break records it's second week in theaters. Marvel president Kevin Feige already expressed interest in a follow up Black Panther film, with Coogler directing again, earlier this week.
According to Billboard, Black Panther had the second largest second weekend of all time, earning $108 million domestically. The only film that had a larger debut was The Force Awakens with $149.2 million. Black Panther has now well surpassed the $400 million mark, with an estimated total of $708 million in global earnings.
