10 songs you need in your life this week
Tracks we love right now. In no particular order.
Each week The FADER staff rounds up the songs we can't stop playing. Here they are, in no particular order.
1. Migos, "Made Men"
"Made Men," from Culture II, is Migos like you've never heard them before. Takeoff glides to the forefront here, though all three shine up against the smooth and jazzy production.
2. James Blake, “If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead”
His first original material since 2016, James Blake's "If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead" glitches and skips like a strange love message that's being transmitted from an alien planet, far in outer space.
3. Jay Som, "O.K., Meet Me Underwater"
"O.K., Meet Me Underwater," a new Jay Som B-side, sounds floaty and effervescent, defying the heaviness of its own message: the sadness of two people drifting apart.
4. Joey LaBeija & LSDXOXO feat. Bbymutha, "Nu Girl"
The feature-loaded "Nu Girl" is truly a power anthem. Honestly, could you expect anything else from a Joey LaBeija, LSDXOXO, and Bbymutha collab? Probably not.
5. Payroll Giovanni & Cardo, "Good Day To Get Money"
Payroll Giovanni and Cardo want to remind you that "It's a good day to get money." The sentiment is actually so motivating and feel-good, I might make it my morning alarm.
6. Soccer Mommy, "Cool"
Soccer Mommy's "Cool" is about a girl who eats boys for fun. It's a soft guitar jam, though the wavy vocal hook in the chorus offers up more sass than sweetness.
7. Yxng Bane feat. Maleek Berry, "Corner"
East London's Yxng Bane just released "Corner," though I can already tell it's going to be in every club-DJ's repertoire very soon. It's effortlessly danceable, the kind of song you want to end your nights with.
8. Let's Eat Grandma, "HOT PINK"
Let's Eat Grandma's SOPHIE-produced "HOT PINK" is a triumph of metal echoes and clashing textures, all of which converge for a euphoric ending.
9. Rico Nasty feat. Shy Glizzy, "Key Lime OG Remix"
Rico Nasty has a line in this song that pretty much encapsulates how we feel about it: "With the touch I got the Midas." It's gold.
10. Cuco, "Sunnyside"
There is a nostalgic beauty to Cuco's "Sunnyside," a song that hums and whirs through vivid and colorful production. It reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons and cereal-streaked milk.
