A neural network created band names for one funny, fake Coachella line-up

Every time big ticket festival like Coachella releases their lineup, it's a common feeling to scan the list of artists and feel baffled at who some of them are. That feeling of confusion has been hilariously tapped by Botnik Studios, a self-described "community of writers, artists and developers collaborating with machines to create strange new things." The group's latest man-machine collab is a fake Coachella lineup, and you can check it out above via Botnik's Twitter.
Botnik's lineup was "generated by a neural network trained on thousands of band names," according to Botnik's tweet. Part of what makes the computing system's band names so funny is how uncanny they are — almost like Sophia the Robot is curating the lineup is curating the lineup — usually they're just a little bit more ridiculous than reality. But just as often it feels like the artists could be real, which makes the joke even better.
The actual lineup for Coachella 2018 will include headliners Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Eminem.
