Green Day and The Killers will also play the New York event on September 23.
The line-up for this year's Global Citizen Festival has been announced, with Green Day and Stevie Wonder on board as headliners. The annual event will take place on September 23 at Central Park in New York. Stevie Wonder first headlined Global Citizen in 2013.
The festival, now in its sixth year in New York, will also feature performances by Pharrell, The Killers, Big Sean, Andra Day, Alessia Cara, The Lumineers, and The Chainsmokers.
Tickets for the 60,000 capacity festival are free and handed out on a lottery basis with participants in Global Citizen's charitable initiatives rewarded with access to the draw. Good deeds can include signing petitions or tweeting world leaders to urge them to take action on important issues.
Global Citizen will be aired live on MSNBC and msnbc.com with a live stream also available on YouTube and Twitter.
